Getting started with Moodle

http://moodle.hssd.k12.wi.us

Moodle will be your primary source of information.  Students can access Moodle by typing in the URL (above) or by going to the Bay Port Choir Web Page (http://bayport.hssd.k12.wi.us/bpchoraldept) and clicking on the Moodle Link.

Each student has an individual username and password to access Moodle.  Announcements, assignments, handouts, online resources, forms, rehearsal tracks, etc are all posted in Moodle.  For the most part this will be a ‘paperless’ class. All assignments, forms, etc will be submitted through Moodle.

Getting Started

Go to the Moodle website (http://moodle.hssd.k12.wi.us).

  • Your username is your school username (first 4 letters of your last name, first 4 letters of your first name).
  • IF YOU USED MOODLE LAST YEAR…your password has not changed.  If you do not remember your password you need to see Mr. Schroeder.
  • IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME USING MOODLE…your temporary password is Abcd1234$  You will need to follow the instructions below to change your password.
      • Find your name in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and click on it.
      • Click on the ‘Edit Profile’ tab
      • Find the Change Password button and click on it.  Follow the directions on the screen and change your password.  You must use at least 1 letter, at least 1 number, and at least 1 symbol.  In addition you must have 1 upper case letter and 1 lower case letter.

Update your email address

  • It is important that your email address remain current as this is the only way to retrieve ‘forgotten’ passwords.  Follow the steps below to confirm / update your email address.
      • Find your name in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and click on it.
      • Click on the ‘Edit Profile’ tab
      • Find the email and confirm that it is correct.  If your email is not current, please update your email address
      • In order for you to save your changes you will need to type something into the description box.  Just type in Bay Port Choir.
      • Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on ‘Update Profile’

Navigating through Moodle

  • Go back to the home page Click on the HSSD link in the upper-right hand corner.
  • This is the screen you will always see after you log into Moodle

  • You will find navigation links in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.  Always use these links to go back.  Never hit the back button.
